What should I expect from my first treatment?

What actually happens?

An initial session can take up to 90 minutes as it includes a comprehensive medical & lifestyle consultation.  The Client's health & wellbeing goals will be identified before a full investigatory reflexology treatment is then given. From this, a bespoke treatment plan will be created for the following session to target concerns.  Follow up appointments last 60 minutes.

Is it a magic cure?

You are invited to take off your socks and shoes and recline on the chair or make yourself comfortable on the therapy couch.  Infused with essential oils, your feet are then cleansed before visual & tactile observations are noted. You will then be asked to take a few deep breaths to signal the start of the treatment.  Client led pressure will be used throughout the treatment & as such the tickly sensation you may expect to feel will not be apparent.  For some, the first session can feel unusual but most are hooked by session 2!

Can anyone have reflexology?

“Well trained reflexologists do not claim to cure or diagnose.  Reflexology is a very individual treatment which is tailored to you as a whole person, taking into account both physical and non-physical factors that might be affecting your wellbeing. The best way to find out if it helps you is to try it!” –Association of Reflexologists

There are specific conditions that are not suitable for reflexology.  These include infectious diseases, an unstable heart condition (unless working as part of a cardiac team) & thrombosis/DVT.  Reflexology improves circulation & can potentially shift the blood clot.  Reflexology may also alter the outcome of hormone related medical tests.  Therefore please discuss any imminent tests with Sarah prior to your appointment.
